Default headers vs catback

I'm thinking of getting headers and a catback system. I don't think I'll be able to do them at the same time, though. I'm debating on which to get first. It might be a couple months before I can do it, so I got some time to decide any opinions?

are these the first mods that your doing to the car? if it was me i would do the egr! Air! delete. unless ur in cali. that sheds a few pounds off the car, hmm i would look into a lid and filter, maybe a bellow also. exhaust i would probley get the headers you will notice a bigger difference with the lt's than u will with a catback system. also u might look into cutouts as well there are quite a few bolt ons for the ls1 and each one will help but like i said lt's will be the most noticable bolt on you do

The catback is generally cheaper and very easy to put on yourself, I'd get that first I suppose. Always have with all my past cars. You won't get much power from the catback though, the headers are the definite power leader there...

I would wait, save my money and do them at the same time. It is a lot easier to put your headers, and they connect the new exhaust. Thats just my $.02

i would also try and do them both at the same time. but if you had to do one first i would say the catback is the way to go. then add the headders and y later.

I have to disagree with most of you. If he is looking for more power I would do the headers first. You don't get that much power if any off a catback system and stock exhaust manifolds. +1 on the cutout idea with the long tube headers, thats where you will see the most power and best sound for the best amount of money.

If you insist, then Headers definately. They are a BITCH to install, but gotta do it.

If it where me however, I would wait till i had enough money to do them both. If you are itching to do something, and only have $600 or so, why not do IM, Lid, Pulley. This will net you some power and also allow you spend that money that is burning a hole in your pocket. The exhaust really should be done at once. It is less of a pain in the ***, and I am not even sure if headers will work with the stock system w/o some fabbing.

Don't bother with the "smooth bellows" because it is more of an appearence mod.

I appreciate all the advise and when it comes time to do mod. I'll look back on this thread and it should sway me one way or the other. I also like the idea of the lid, IM(I'm assuming IM is Intake Manifold). an pulley. In general how much more power does the factory LS 6 intake manifold make more than the factory LS1? If its not much more I may just buy an aftermarket one.

Exact set I have. Best of both worlds, loud when you want and quiet as hell when you want.
