Default Mechanical oil pressure gauge

Well, i finally hooked one up to see what was really going on in my car..... Dont think its good. On a cold start the mechanical one read 30ps1 and the dash read about 39ps1. This is with swapping out the oil pump to a melling pump. Ive never seen any shavings in the oil and when i replaced the oil pan gasket in january, i didnt see any accumulation of anything in the remains below. The car really doesnt make any kind of noises. It squeaks a little when cold but goes away after it warms up. What could be the deal???

30psi is fine? At a cold idle you only NEED ~20-25psi(real psi not the dash gauge). What is the hot idle and WOT@6k rpm?

I tapped the fitting above the oil fillter. I havent let it get to full temperature yet cuz it started leaking a little from the fitting i installed. When I rev it the rpms do go up to +/- 50psi. Cant see what rpm im at cuz i mounted the gauge in the engine compartment.

Once I fix the little leak im gonna take it out for a spirited run to see what the pressure is like at hot idle.... That may not be for a while. I just bought a new truck so dont really need to drive it around much anymore....

Ok. So i let the car warm up and on hot idle on the mechanical gauge it reads around 16-17psi which is close to what the interior gauge is reading. I rev it to about 5K rpms and it goes to about 50psi on both. Now, should I be worried??

I taped that same spot for a few months and unfortunately, I had a full mechanical gauge in a pillar pod. It leaked. . . both ends. Good luck.
