Not gonna happen, they're not gonna let imports take over the performance world just like that. But... a Turbo V6 as the RS Model sounds good for the 2010 Camaro ;-).

That makes no sense, though. A turbo V6 won't get any better mileage than a V8. Just look at the STi and the Evo. They don't get any better mileage than we do and they have a turbo I4.

the more things change, the more they stay the same. this is just the late 60's all over again. run away in flation is just around the bend (ask ANY economist), energy costs are one the rise, world peace has never quite been so far away (good time to be in the military tho ) ... just a big old cycle.

hell if this keeps up, i'll be able to sell my T/A for a few hundred thousand in 40 years lol

I'd MUCH rather a built V6/4cyl with a nice large turbo then an LSX V8 based engine.

But Sti's and Evo's are also all wheel drive. Im sure that doesnt help there gas mileage either.

your a communist! how bad is the gas mileage really in a 6speed ls1? i get 23 highway and im damn happy with that. my wifes 03 grand an 4cyl gets like 26 but i have 350hp she has 120 gerbal power..i like the power and with premium getting increasingly close to 4bucks here in so cal, im still not going to ditch my car theres nothing like a v8..plus if u want to save the economy get a motorcycle.

Wow good for you. Face it. The days of the V8 are numbered with gas prices so high. Just wait till gas hits 4 dollars a gallon across the country. People will be trading in there V8's for a nice 6/4cyl

For the last 10-15 yrs the Am. auto industry has thrived on massive unit sales of SUV's, 4x4's, and Pick-ups. Most of this population represented 5500-6500 pound vehicles being hauled around by 330-350 ci V-8's- who's gas mileage hung closer to 15mpg than 27.5mpg. [Dealers won't take these cars in trade anymore]
IF,IF in the next 5 yrs the Auto industry could build a gasoline engine V-8 powertrain that could achieve 35mpg -hauling around SUV's, 4x4's, and Pick-ups- it would be so expensive as to fail on launch. Stop putting gas V-8's in these vehicles. They beg for direct, 'high pressure DIRECT injection', turbocharged modern diesels. Keep the high tech gas v-8's for the performance crowd. Auto CO.'s don't have to make dumb stuff & we don't have to keep buying dumb designs-that way we can still enjoy our tire smoke and still satify C.A.F.E. [BTW 91 octane gas is +$4.00/gal here in northern CA.]

+1 and you can get wayyy better than 23mpg on a 6 spd LS1. I regularly see 28-30mpg on the highway.
