Default The pulley... is it really worth it?

I have a 02 camaro tourquer v2, 3600 stall, and supporting bolt ons. Made 376/353 I really want to get a few more horses out of it before I get heads. Just wondering if the pulley is really worth it? Can I get 10 hp from it?

A pulley will a good addition. It will add some good torque too. I have one that I'll be installing once my other parts get here.

It deffinatley helped my M6 out. It is pricey but in the end if you want every hp out of the motor then you need it. I have the SLP one.

I went the ASP route and love the difference. Better gas mileage (especially when coupled with an ewp from meziere) quicker revving, and of course a few more hp.

The higher you spin the motor, the more youll gain from a pulley. I dont know about 10 RWHP, but certainly 5 is not out of the question. Its worthwhile.

the downs or concerns are overheating, not providing enough power to the electronics, etc...usually not a problem but can be...the main difference youll have with the pulley is revving a little faster due to less weight to spin...

I believe he's referring to some of the few people that may have had charging issues. I can honestly say I haven't had any issues. Now with that being said I am not running huge speakers, and amps like a lot of younger guys are. Those amps really draw the juice and if your battery is showing its age you need to understand you'll be replacing your battery more often when running a ud pully and big power sucking stereo amps. Those two items don't mix.

Ok, that was what I thought he was saying. I was thinking Pro's and Con's. It was never a problem for me charging running an optima redtop and 2 MTX 5000 and an old school Rockford Fosgate punch a2 series amp. The headlights didn't even dim. Just don't get an over drive pulley along with it because you will have cross canceled your efforts. ( I know that sounds dumb, but working at a shop I have seen it all....and several times.)

That's cool to hear bro. I'd have thought you'd be dimming pretty good with all that juice getting sucked. I'll bet your stuff bumped.

To add to my earlier comment about overheating, if you spend alot of time in stop and go traffic it can be a problem, meiser electric water pumps solve this and you could always pick up a water pump that pumps a little more then stock, if i remember right most aftermarket replacements claim about 15% increase at idle over stock and this is normally sufficient for any concerns or problems, you can always put an overdrive pulley on but that defeats the purpose...

You are correct about the MEZIERE ewp. Provides MAX coolant flow from idle. No issues with high rpm cooling either. Another reason for ewp is improved gas mileage, and quicker revving. Less resistance on the crank frees up some power by reducing parasitic loss.

Years ago before i had a DD, I have a 2K watt rms stereo that I buumped all the time in my camaro. Never had any issues with charging due to the 25% underdrive.
