Pretty sure it's 2 5/8". You should be able to use a 3" cutout just fine though.

A 3 inch cutout will NOT work.

I tried a 2.5 on my 02 Z28, too small. So we tried a 3 inch on my cousins 01 SS, too big.

Everyone says a 3 inch is where its at, no dice. 2 3/4 is the way to go. Learn from my mistakes

Wrong. 3 inch works perfect. Had one put on my 95 Z28 and my 99 Z28. Those both having the 2 3/4 in pipe. Had a 3 in put on my SS which has the 3 in exhaust and it worked perfect as well.

3 inch cutout is what you want/need.

I dont see how. I ordered a 3 inch cutout from Thunder Racing for a 2001 SS. Everything on it was stock.

We had to cut the edges to crush them in and it looked like absolute ****. Let me see pics of yours as well as overall diameter measurements .

Maybe your location was different? We installed it on the little spot on the I pipe where the cutout fits in that little groove. Did you guys actually install them yourself or did you have a shop do it? If a shop did it, then yeah they can make it work but the one I did did NOT slip fit. Not even close.

Id like to see pics as well as know if you actually did those installs yourself or took it to someone. Unless my cousin had a weird SS.....
