$800 for true duals

$800 for true duals Just got quoted 800 bucks yesterday for a TD setup dumped before the axle. The price includes a pair of magnaflow high flow cats and a pair of magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers. Is this a good deal? Does anyone know of a better deal from a shop here in phoenix? thanks
Is it 3" stainless steel? I paid $450 for 2.5" run out the back. I didn't have cats, but it was mandrel bent to the axle and included H-pipe, mufflers and tips. Not to mention four flanges and all hangars.
I think $800 is too much. I'd say an average for a dumped system is $500. Taking into acount your cats, it still sounds like an awful lot. Get all your components from Summit and take them to a shop and it should be much cheaper.

300$ for new high flow cats.. and around 400+ for my true duals from Texas Speed, i'd say they're not far off.
439.99 for true duals... Actually they're online ebay for high flow magnaflows 3" for like 79.99 a piece, so.. plus shipping with both of those sets, your total would be around 650$ plus, and for labor... 150$...
Doesn't sound to bad as long as they do a damn good job of tucking it.

Sounds expensive for a dump before the axle. If they were including all of that AND running it out the rear of the car over the axle, then the price doesn't sound quite so bad. Still a bit high to me though.
If you run cats I wouldn't even buy mufflers. I got the 3" high flow cats and didn't use mufflers and mine are true duals that dumped right in front of the axle. I think it sounds nice, not too loud at idle and when you get on it sounds good.
I have the same cats, PM me and I can send you some photos, I still have to cut them off my old exhaust but if you want I can do that and send photos, they are pretty much new with only 700 miles.
It'll save you some money. Let me know. I'm going BBC so I won't be using them. Then you'd just need 2 or 3 u bends, 2 o2 sensor bungs and some 3" straight pipe. I did mine, tacked it up then took it off the car and welded it all up, needless to say it wasn't even close to 800.00

built this in the driveway. total for all 3 inch mandrel bent w mufflers and turndowns, 250. 6 bolts drops the whole system. could have added cats for a lil more.

never cleaned up and smoothed the welds and used some pieces from a mandrel y pipe that nothing was wrong with bc the bends were what i needed and the y pipe was damaged in a few spots anyway(thats y sections are dark) . the h is homemade obviously but who gives a ****. i started with a summit universal x pipe kit and took the x out bc of ground clearance issues. anyone who sees my exhaust on my car agrees mine is tucked better then any they have or have seen. btw the mufflers reside in the space where the bottom of the torque arm used to be. i notched three inches out of the lowest part of it sloping up to the front and tucked both mufflers up in the tunnel straddling the driveshaft. ground clearance is awesome. i boxed it (torque arm) in for strength also.

That would be too loud for many; me included. I am running the Magnaflow metallic substrate cats in my dual system w/ a dual in/dual out muffler, and I wish it was a little quieter.
Fact of the matter is anyone that slams you for not making that a "better looking" setup could not have made better themselves. At least not 95% of the people.

I like the fact that you made it yourself. More props to you. Who really cares what letter of the alphabet the merge looks like. I make and modify my own setups all the time. I smell what your steppin' in man. Fact of the matter is most of those that slam you for not making that a "better looking" setup could not have made better themselves.

$800 for a Dumped TD setup with cats doesn't sound too bad to me.. guys have to remember Cats aren't cheap.
I think $800 is a little excessive, unless MAYBE it's all stainless. I just built a clean dumped true dual setup for a friend of mine and he didn't spend much at all.

800 sounds right if theyre using mandrel bent tubing, for the 800 i think u could probably get over axle setup. cats can cost 300 bucks depending on the cat, if its the new magnaflow spun cat then yeah i can see 300 bucks easily, and magnaflow mufflers another 250-300, tips probably 100, labor all depends on the shop.
shop around for the cats and mufflers u might end up saving like 100+ bucks

i forgot to mention that im a welder.
i do think it turned out pretty good considering it was my first exhaust i have ever done. but the actual welding part was cake.
