Default full bolt ons and cam only enter here.

Ok I am at a point where I'm about to order a cam. My car right now has just about every bolt on. It has k&n filter -> SLP lid ->80mm tb -> ls6 intake coming out of pacesetter long tubes -> catted td with spiral flows coming out the back.

I've been looking at cams for about a month or so and I want a cam that will get me in the low 12's and optimistically in really high 11's maybe, and putting out about 400hp. I will not be getting heads anytime soon so I need a cam that will be safe with stock heads. I'm currently looking at a 232/234 .640/.590 112 LSA cam?

232/234 duration with .595/.598 lift and 112 LSA seems to have a good lift that would work well with stock heads. Any idea on the numbers this cam would provid power/track. Btw the cam has to provide good mid and high range power.

Well if you want a good track cam, don't look at horsepower numbers as a benchmark. Are you M6 or A4? That comes into play also on how your car will perform at the track.

Spend 25 bucks and have Patrick G figure you up a custom cam. Makes the cam for YOUR car.

Start looking at the big picture. Is this a street car at all? What trans do you have?
You can run 12's on the stock cam if you have the right suspension. Also dont get caught up in the big cam syndrome. Lot of guys on here think they should brag because they run a big cam. My car was faster on the street with a TR224 than a custom ground 234/240

Big cams are drag racing and suck on the streets for power through the low and mid range rpms and dont let anyone tell you different. You can mill the heads all you want you but cant make up for small cubes and a big cam vs a proper cam for the weight and gearing.

We've got a guy in our section who ran 12.1 all day long with the proper stall and a tr224. He added some juice now and is well into the 11.'s and had to buy a roll bar.

Good advice!! I have outrun a few of my buds from a dig that went with a donkey dick cam.

I would say a TSP torquer...v2 or v3. I've seen this put down some really good power/ET's.

I'm in pretty much the same situation and am about to install a TSP 228R. After doing a ton of research, it seemed like the best off the shelf cam for a street driven car to run low 12's cam-only. I only go to the track 2-3 times a year and I could care less about dyno numbers. I just want a fun street car with plenty of torque across the board. Once you start looking at 230+ cams, you start sacrificing low end power and driveability. 99blancoss is right on. Don't just go for a big cam, go for something that meets your needs and works with your setup.
