Hanging idle with ported T/B
I just installed a ported T/B from Jantzer, and one of the first things I noticed was that my idle hangs around 1100rpm for a few seconds, then drops down to normal. Also, the car will coast at 20+ mph without my foot even being on the pedal becuase of this.
He didn't drill any extra holes, and it also doesnt appear that he took off too much material around the blade. I checked for leaks by spraying brake parts cleaner around the T/B, and no hickups..
Anyone have an idea?

any slack in the throttle cable? i had to undo the plastic clip halfway back on the cable, then let it self adjust and reconnect. 5 min job. also maybe check the throttle cam stop / adjust screw, maybe loose? i'm just guessing.

Was the battery disconnected or the computer reflashed in the course of the install? If so, give it some time (a few weeks of driving) or do an idle relearn.
If not, then you may have to tune your idle airflow (RAFIG). Do a search in the PCM forum for info on the relearn and RAFIG.

Your computer is relearning your idle. Unless you drive a lot, this can take some weeks. But it will eventually settle out and return to normal.
You can do the relearn procedure I mentioned. It involves letting your car sit and idle in park and drive. It beats dealing with hanging idle and the "cruise control" effect for weeks on end.

I kept this from back in 2001:
PCM Idle Learn Procedure:
Automatic Transmission:
1 Turn off the ignition
2 Restore the PCM battery feed
3 Turn Off the AC controls
4 Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels
5 Start the engine
6 Allow the engine coolant temperature to reach 176 degrees F
7 Shift the transmission selector into the drive range
8 Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes
9 Turn on the AC controls (Omit for 2000-01 model)
10 Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes (Omit for 2000-01 model)
11 Shift the transmission selector into Park
12 Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes (Omit for 2000-01 model)
13 Turn off the AC controls (Omit for 2000-01 model)
14 Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes
15 Turn off the engine for 15 seconds
Manual Transmission:
1 Turn Off the ignition
2 Restore the PCM battery feed
3 Turn Off the AC controls
4 Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels
5 Transmission in neutral
6 Start the engine
7 Allow the engine coolant temperature to reach 176 degrees F
