great dependable engine...
but you can build a more powerful one for the same amount of money... basically your buying a piece of mind if you plan on staying with a stock ls6 engine from GM

I wouldn't buy a crate engine, way to much money. I would look for a nice low mileage engine, doesn't matter if it's a truck engine or f-body or whatever, but I would stick with either a 5.7/6.0
If you get a truck engine, you can get those for pretty cheap. Get one of those and then you would have a good bit of money to put into it.

How many miles are on your car? 300,000? Just keep up with the normal maintenance and it will be fine.
