i'm talking more on the lines of making my own using resistors and solder and such.

You really can't because they change resistance back and forth otherwise the computer throws a code

I did the spark plug non-fouler method on my DD and it works great. Costs about $8.50 total.

i read that tutorial a long time ago on ephatch, but will it work for our cars?
