Default Coated vs Non coated

Is it really worth the extra $100 or more to buy Coated headers over uncoated?? I mean I know they look good but how much functionality is really there?

Rust in a month vs. rust in a year basically. Coating does hold heat in a little bit which helps keep flow up as well as underhood temps down by like 1 degree or some ****.

definetly get coated headers, they will rust is they are uncoated but look into some shops that coat headers you might get lucky and be able to have them do it for $50-$75 and save a lil money. So you can buy uncoated headers and then just get the coated.

actually if you clean them once a year than no rust should occur. If there is rust you get to send them back and they'll(jet hot atleast) replace them.

i believe you're right. But on daily drivers where salt is used in the area during winter its bound to happen. he'd probably be ok though since he's in AZ now that i think about it.

I had ceramic coated LTs on my 71 when it was running and I never had any problems with rust. And I do think they look good under the hood... I was just wondering mainly about the temperature difference between coated and non-coated.

the jethot coating does nearly nothing for temperature. Its too thin to act as a thermal barrier.

if you want a true thermal barrier look at companies like Swaintech and others.. they are actually targeted towards keeping temps down.

I have Jet hot coated headers, mainly for looks and corrosion protection. You wont see much thermal benefits however..

IMHO - if you're not going to get painted headers, get stainless. i had ceramic coated pacesetters and they rusted after a few months. this go-round with mods on the ta i am buying painted pacesetters. nothing regarding function is different, they will just be rusty. $259 for painted pacesetters for $800 for [insert name brand] stainless headers. not a hard choice given the fact they will both illicit the same performance gains and last just as long.

You could always get the noncoated and have them coated yourself or buy a heat wrap and wrap them like the FI guys do. Just other options to think about if you want to save money. Stainless steel is the best route IMO for its strength and rust prevention.

i have the headers from jethot not just others with a outside coating, the jethot brand are jethot coated inside and out, are double welded at the flange and ground to a perfect finish and use a thicker flange, also come with a lifetime rust through warranty which is nice, i was very impressed with these when they arrived
