Default Going the cheap way...Headers?

So I hear if I buy painted headers they will rust in a month, then if I buy coated ones they will rust in a year, and staineless well it wont rust but I dont have the money.

Ok so on to the question. What happens if I buy Pace setter LT's that are painted and give them a light sanding and paint the hell out of them with high temp paint? Opinions...

the paint will eventually come off and rust. you can not avoid it unless you go stainless....

COATED HEADERS WONT RUST IN A YEAR IF YOU CLEAN THEM ONCE A YEAR!!! Just dont be lazy and clean them just once a year, not that bad plus they look good

i got my SLP's,,used,,they look brand freakin new,,,(they are ss and coated)for 600 bux shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats headers, cats, and y pipe,,no dents, rust, etc....

i am not lowered, and dont drive over **** at warp 9, so i have yet to scrape anything (like everyone on here says they will) and they have made my TA a whole new car,,,

do your research before you buy,,,and dont jump on the first band wagon you'll come across, as not everyone on here is an expert,,,some are, dont get me wrong,,but do some reading before spending your dollars

just get the best you can afford. Unless someone comes in and says "painted headers will rust within a month and within x amount of years they will have rusted completely through and become useless" I would just go with painted headers. My stock manifolds are rusted to hell but with all the crap in the engine bays I barely notice.

If you cant afford stainless, I would wait. I read another thread on here today of a guy who has to take his headers out and have them coated (he doesnt know if they were from the get go). But the time and money to take them out and have them coated isnt worth the $100 less that the coated ones are.

im sure if you wait around long enough you can find a good deal on a used set of ss headers. nothing wrong with that.

performance gains will be the same on almost all of the headers. i bought a set of ceramic coated pacesetters when i had my camaro. i will buy painted pacesetters for the trans am. i am choosing pacesetter because of their price and ease to install. tsp also sells an adjustable y-pipe for them. i can get a new set of headers and adj. y-pipe for $415 - and go just as fast if not faster than the guy with an $800 set of headers and $200 y-pipe. i am all about performance. the hood will rarely ever be up, but the tail lights will always be clean.

Hooker Stainless steel headers are the way to go if you wanna be cheap. For $499 shipped from SpeedTweekerz and they come with the real O2 extenders and everything. I'm really happy with mine.

Painted headers will rust but will be ok if you are on a tight budget.Stainless are better and are worth spending the money if you are going to keep your car.I bought kooks but they were pricey. You could wait and buy stainless or buy what you can afford and get better ones later on in time. It's your car and you have to be happy with it.
