i really didnt know where to post this...so this might be the best place to ask this.

i need some help

i got my hands on a cam(zo6)and also on some 241 head that im gonna port out..but my question is what else do i need to do to make everything work good

ex. ls6 springs, better retainers, better lifters, rods, timing chain, rockers...
or do i just use the ones from my original heads...

i really dont wanna install all this and a couple of months down have to replace something that broke...that i could of replaced when i was installing the cam and heads

what year ls6 cam? you can get the yellow beehive psrings for about $55 shipped from gm. get a ls2 timing chain they are abou $41 bucks from gm.dum you can get some ls7 lifters around $115 or so from gm, you cant reuse your stock springs that would be the most retarded thing to do...I thought you said you got 243 castings? stock rockers are fine. get the hardened pushrods, the rods have to be a tad longer becuase the ls6 cam has a .50 smaller base circle.

Ok.
So then on the rods...I had ordered some hardend rods from comp cams but they are 7.375 in length but one of my friends told me there to short. So should I get some 7.400 or even 7.450...
And if I do need some other ones I need 2 get rid of these

I would get springs for the heads. You could use ls6 springs but I would use comp 918 or pac 1218.Pushrods and since your going to be in there might as well install ls2 timing chain and ported ls6 or melling 295 oil pump.It depends on how many miles are on it.If it's over 50 k it wouldn't hurt IMO.

I don't think I could spend all that time on labor to put that small of a cam in.

I agree, such small gains for all that work. youll be bored after a month., at a minimum TR224@114 cam is what you need.

Use the stock pushrods, they are fine and you dont need so spend the money on hardened ones. You will need springs. I have the 04 LS6 in my car now and I want more, so get ready to put a bigger cam in after a few months!

The stock pushrods are too short. You need a 7.450"

+1

mill the dogshit out of those heads if you're going to use an ls6 cam. the cam itself won't give much of a gain, but the compression combined with it might do something worth mentioning.

I done my friends 2002 Z28 6 speed car and we went off of what everyone told us and put 7.45 pushrods in and it ran fine but then we just went ahead and swapped them out with 7.40 and the car ran faster at the track and performed better all around but his was a bolt on with Kooks headers off road y pipe, Borla exhaust, 3.73 gears, underdrive ASP Pulley, stock LS6 intake, MTI throttle body about all bolt ons, with the stock non removed 241 LS1 heads w/ comp cams 918 springs stock retainers. I would run the the 7.40 because loose is fast in my opinion. Hope it works out for you.
