Default dyno tune worth

Ok just called a shop in fresno about getting my codes deleted out since I justed added longtubes and a ls6 intake he said he would rather give me a full tune and I could see gains of like 40rwp which I think he is blowing smoke up my a$$. I said how much to just delete the codes he was like I rather run the o2 sensors for you because the car will run better you will get better gas milege and if I change elevation like if I go to pismo or something and come back this way they car would run shitty due to the elevation change what do you guys think he is charging me 350 for the tune on the dyno and then the price of the o2 sensors and like 100 bucks labor so he is saying around 500-550 what do you guys think is it worth it.

I'd say go for it. Nothing beats an "on point" tune. I think the car needs a tune after the header install anyways. I bet it is running very rich. So, by leaning out the AFR, you should definitely see gains in HP and Torque.

Go for it! If the results aren't what he expects (40 hp or so...), then try to haggle him down on price, like no labor or something. But definitely get the tune. It's worth it.

Are you running with no O2 sensors right now?

There's no way you'll see a 40 rwhp gain. Do you plan on doing any more mods in the near future like a cam? If not then it's worth it to get the tune now.

Not arguing with 02 Camaro SS or anything, but you may be a lucky one who does see a gain of this magnitude. I have a feeling the tuner is either talking about the combination of the headers and the tune, or he is thinking the headers are loosing power due to the rich conditions they cause.

If you bring your car in as is and dyno it. Then get it tuned right and redyno it. You'll probably see a nice gain. I agree though, most likely not 40HP.

I installed long tubes, ory, and catback and my car ran shittier. I paid $550 for my tune and gained 34 hp. The car runs, reacts, and shifts awesome. I have no complaints and am vary pleased with the tune. Its a must when doing long tubes. The car should run equally different in higher elevations tuned or untuned. Basically your vehicle is stock tuned and will run a little worse in higher elevations stock. Once you tune for your mods, its like telling your computer that this is the new stock configuration and should run equally bad in higher elevations as a stock vehicle. Anyways, the tune was the best thing I did. Just research the shop your going throug, if guys are only gaining 5-10hp, look somewhere else. But like I said my A4 shifts better, the throttle response is better, and the gas mileage increased.

Get the tune and don't look back. Only way to know for sure your car is running efficiently.

Its also a good idea to get the tune now. The initial tune will cost the most and then getting additional tunes will cost $100-150 when you add more ****. Either way you'll pay that $550, so why not make your car run great, right now? Otherwise pay me $200 and I'll tell you its not worth it.

aight check this out will not having the o2 rear senors and just deleteing the code out effect the car becaue basically thats what he is trying to try to get me to do is buy the o2 sensors and pay him like 200 to run them then pay 350 for him to tune but I'm like why and you can just delete the crap

I understand yeah get it tuned I am asking though does it hurt the car to just run it with no rear o2's and the codes just deleted I mean I got a guy that will delete the codes out for 75 bucks and call it a day so I rather do that for right now instead of forking out 500 bucks for a tune I dont really have 500 to trick off. So I just want to know if it would do any damage to the car so that If I need to find a way to get the 500 I could use other means instead of jacking my car up and ending up needing like 1000 to fix it

your car will run fine without the rear o2 sensors. they do not affect the tune anyway, only the front o2 sensors. The rear o2 sensors are just there to make sure the catalytic converter is working, so if you dont have a cat then there is no reason for those 02's.

Get them tuned out for now if your strapped for cash, plus EGR and AIR if applicable.

TUNE...TUNE...TUNE, then TUNE some more...

Might as well get it outta the way now. You'll burn over $500 of extra gas within a month at these gas rates...lol.

It sounds like he is trying to sell you new front O2 sensors??? I surely didnt need em when I got my car tuned... that'd save you a quick 50-100 bucks on the overall cost.

Is he trying to get you to buy Front or Rear O2's? Rear's would be pointless as you mentioned, but the fronts are very important. He is probably referring to the fronts. Either way, get the tune, whether you do the O2's or not.
