would rear end gears be an internal part since its inside the case and touches oil?

...or considered a bolt-on?

Awesome! I guess this is what the world is all about. Its just about the terminology and what comes to mind when using it. Some people will call an SUV a "car." I think thats stupid. A car is a car and an SUV is an SUV. To them, "car" simply means "automobile." In which case any automobile could be called a "car." So "stock internals" to some is simply crank/rods/pistons, but the actual definition IMO would include the valvetrain, oil pump, timing chain and ect. (I'm sure I'm forgeting somthing). Anyways, this thread is not stupid. It is what comes from different points of view and differences of opinion. Thats all. No need to judge.

Even the way the external engine forum label is writen:

It doesn't say anything about cam or heads. I'm wondering when this shift of cam and head swaps became "stock internals"

I'm wondering what people feel are internals these days..

Crank, rods, pistons are roating assembly and are deffinately stock internals.. IMO a cam, heads are internals. Even 1.85 rockers IMO are borderline since they change valve train both in lift and duration.
no offense to this site.... but this has been settled befor this site was around oopps i mean since al gore invented the internet. bolt ons you's to be carb, ignition, intake, headers exhaust sys , air cleaner , valve covers. anything that really did not require dismantling the engine to the point it does not run. these are my definition and what was taught to me. but everybody has there own opinion. even what i mentioned really doesnt make sense to a point, but there an easy bolt on.

stock internals to me is everything inside of the block that was originally installed from the factory. I.E. crank, pistons, rods..

yeah i would have to say its not that hard to do. stock internals would have to be your block and rotating assembly. stock bolts/bearings too! i would say the valvetrain is a whole new system. as well as other bolt ons-ie FI system/ nitrous.

heads and cam can be swapped onto a stock bottom end and produce good results. now wild heads and cam, maybe a power adder will push the limits of the rotating assembly.
