Stock internals.. What's it mean??
Only click on the items you feel you can put on your car and retain a stock internal status..

But your post doesn't makes sense either by clicking on crank, pistons ect..

.. Doesn't internals mean the inside of something in this case the engine? So stock internals means you have not changed stock parts out for upgrade aftermarket parts or ported or changed stock parts. Last edited by 5301113; Jul 11, 2008 at 10:36 AM.
Basically, with the exception of the cam.
This poll is still FUBAR'd.
It should be "check off what you think internal parts are"
Three things: Crank, pistons, and rods.
Valvetrain doesn't count, it's no big deal to change pushrods or rockers, or even the cam for that matter, and a cylinder head is not an internal part, so that doesn't count either.
I don't know what the confusion is, or why this requires 3 threads.
Internals = Crank, pistons, rods
And what's up with the results? 90% of people think that pushrods can be changed and still have a stock internal status, but only 60% for most common bolt ons?

If it requires constant oil supply to operate without wear, it's an internal. If too much rpm etc can cause it to break and the engine subsequently can't run without it, it's an internal. If it's a part of the combustion chamber, it's an internal

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
A motor that has been apart and put back together using "stock" parts should have a different name. To cut the confusion, I recommend using something different, like "Factory Stock" for example.
It doesn't say anything about cam or heads. I'm wondering when this shift of cam and head swaps became "stock internals"
I'm wondering what people feel are internals these days..
Crank, rods, pistons are roating assembly and are deffinately stock internals.. IMO a cam, heads are internals. Even 1.85 rockers IMO are borderline since they change valve train both in lift and duration.

I just see the cam and heads as such a simple change to someone that is technically inclined, that I consider them not part of the "internals."
But what REALLY makes me LOL is that someone voted for Block.
I wanted to support the direction the poll was already going You have to open the engine to change a cam. It rides on bearings and requires a constant oil supply. It is tied to the crank with a chain, I think that's a big deal. . .

Few examples:
#1 (stock block)
Larry: "Damn dude, what do you have done to that thing?"
Bob: "Just bolt-ons."
Larry: " No cam or heads?"
Bob: "Nah, still running on the stock block"
#2 (stock internals)
Frankie J: "I can't believe you are pushing that much power through the stock internals, you are going to blow that **** up."
Billy B: "Yea, then I will have an excuse to upgrade to forged internals."
