Default what is a good exhaust, header combination

I am trying to find out a good header exhaust combination. I am thinking hooker long tubes with hooker y to hooker catback. But then there is the price. Any input is appreciated. What would you do. Also with long tubes does it go directly to the y pipe or are there cats.

I can tell you what ISN'T a good header/exhaust combo.......headers with Loudmouth.

My car now sounds like a UPS truck. Of course, this is just personal opinion. Some people like the rasp / fart sound.

i think that would be a great setup. If you are going to be running an ORP, you want a pretty quite catback or else it starts to get loud. Magnaflow, dualdual, hooker etc

I am also looking into the gmmg inc chambered exhaust. It sounds great, plus I love the way it looks under the rear of the car. Would a good combination for this exhaust be some hooker shortys with stock cats and stock y (or whats a good replacement), into 3 inch pipe all the way back to the chambers.

This seems like a better choice because I think they sound awesome, but I just dont know what I should do about the stock cats and y. Any other suggestions.

I agree, the loudmouth is awful sounding with the off road y. Raspy as a ****.

hooker with cats and dual/dual will sound good with zero rasp, but its on the quiet side.

I just purchased a coated set of long tuber Pace Setter headers and a non coated y-pipe for 530.00, can't beat that ;-)

From what I hear, they dyno high and fit snug.

best exhaust.....

JetHot Hooker LTs, 2.5" x-pipe, 12" bullets, and pipes under the axle to run out the back.....I have had this for going on 9 months now and still kick myself for not getting it sooner

Going out the back instead of having turndowns before the axle must reduce the noise in the car a lot, because I have an x pipe with 18 inch bullets and turndowns before the axle and my car is very loud.

One more question. What is the benefit of coating the headers, I mean an extra 200 bucks almost for coating on the hooker lt. Is it worth the extra cash in reguards to durability and life, or is it mainly for asthetics.

Besides the obvious cosmetic benefit, the ceramic coating keeps alot of the heat inside the headers and out of your engine bay.

thanks man, but what would you do if money was a situtation. I mean 200 bucks could go toward a car payment or another mod.

My exhaust setup rattles the change in the cupholder. I wish I had gone true duals earlier

IMO, cats make the difference, no matter what LTs you decide to buy. Using the above opinions of the muffler, should sound good.
