Why do my QTP headers hit the k-member??
I installed my QTP headers this weekend. Drivers side went smooth, no clearnace issues. Passenger side is a different story. The #2 primary tube is literally sitting on the k-member! This is after I had a buddy push up on the headers as best he could while I tightened it. In the pics below you can see where it is hitting the k-member, just above the white paint mark.
Has anybody gotten this issue resolved without grinding? I had a set of QTP headers a couple years ago and never had this issue. I am not cutting a piece out of my k-member. Rediculous.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have good poly motor mounts already, so that is not the issue.
Has anybody that had this problem contacted QTP about it? I really don't want to grind or cut on my k-member, seems like a bad idea to weaken a key structure of the car. Also the amount of cutting needed would be about 1/4". That is a lot.

I have never seen the on the boards an issue with the driver side on the k member. I would check your motor mounts. They might be worn. I would look into swamping first to see if its a header issue.

QTP is not open until Monday. I plan to call them about this issue. I refuse to grind and cut my k-member. If that is what is needed then I am selling these headers and going to get some ARH.

My ARH's had a similar issue on the driver side, though they werent touching it was close enough to make it rattle under a hard take off. Took about 5 mins with a cutting torch and removed like a 1/4" from the casting tab on the k member. Yours looks worse though like its hitting the actual 'meat' of the kmember not the little useless lip around the edge of it. I dont think I would cut that part. You would be better off heating up that primary and bending it a little, or maybe getting QTP to send you another. It may just be your car though, the build tolerances in these are rediculous.

Ya, I had to remove some of the lip of my k-member for my very first header install on this car (hookers). That I didnt mind doing. However, as you said the part where these QTP are hitting is the meat of the k-member.
Some folks have said just do a little grinding. The header is presently sitting on the k-member. I can't even slide a feeler gauge in there. The amount of cutting needed to get enough clearance for when the engine moves under accleration/braking is a lot.
I believe the clearances in the cars may be a little different, but I had an old set of QTP that needed nothing.

I had all kinds of fit issues with my QTP's. I believe my driverside was worse then the passenger ended up grinding a little on both sides. I didn't want to deal with sending my set back and my stock exhaust was trashed by then so I threw them in. I have headers that rub the steering shaft, had to dent floorpan, and shave the tab on the block along with the grinding. I agree that paying +700$ for headers that fit like dogshit is insane I was plenty pissed off. I hope you didn't buy their Y pipe setup either bc you can kiss your ground clearance goodbye. If I had to do over again I'd go with kooks but they are in and flow great and I shouldn't have to ever replace them. If your not looking to grind I'd sell them and look elsewhere then having to ship everything back and forth and have the same issues.
