As far as a catback I would not run anything but a magnaflow. True duals get kind of annoying at times.

With all these opinions you probably will be no closer to a decision that you were before this thread.

That is usually what happens to any thread that has in the title "What is the best...."

Had friends tell me it sounds like a catback stock LS1.

I have heard some that scream....
Most are dumps though...of course.

Mine is a custom 3" (2.5" over the axle, stupid 9") duals with a cheap *** x-pipe and a pair of 5x8" Magnaflows.

I love the sound of my tsp rumbler! Not raspy. I get compliments all the time from ppl saying that it "sounds different." Idk I'm always in the car. Its basically SLP loudmouth but less $$ and has a dynomax bullet muffler. Dynoed 342 rwhp and 349 rwtq with the few mods that I have.

Hmm... my LS7 clutch rox0rz imo... I havent had any problems with it (installed back in March 08).

As for exhaust... i have had so many set up's and ill explain each one... All of these went through LT headers (pacesetters LT & ORY)

Flowmaster - Ok system, little drone, killed some hp on a dyno (no biggie). Sounds means on idle.

TSP True Duals - LOUD, NASTY, GREAT ON START, drony as hell on the highway... great for dynoing on for hp/trq. Sadly..... annoying after time (if you have pretty eager beaver cops in the neighborhood this is NOT the exhaust setup for you)

Magnaflow - Muscle car sound (can have some rasp to it, but mine does not and i dont have cats... so i donno) quite on cruising, Mean as hell sounding on WOT and very cost effective. If you want a louder idle/cruising... get a cut out

thats just my 2 cents..

i gotta agree.
i went from flowmaster american thunder (was on the car when i bought it) to magnaflow (sounds nice and muffled until you go WOT and then it sounds fantastic) to the tsp rumbler. tsp rumbler is louder, but not raspy at all.
going WOT getting onto the freeway has a way of alerting highway patrol and scaring ricers.
only thing is if i'm at part throttle under a load (going up a hill) i start to think i could get a noise ticket.
i'm glad i switched out the magnaflow (which i initially felt was the best) for the tsp rumbler.

Magnaflow is VERY quiet. I actually have a slowmaster on the Z (with cutout) but the wife has open borla on her WS6. I wanna get a Borla for mine too, as I have headers.

IMO. but then again, some people like the sound of a straight piped farm truck.
I have heard one (besides mine) before. That's what made me decide to get one. I will agree with you that with a ORY they can get a little raspy, but with cats or even a better merge it sounds great.
Its all preference really. What one likes another hates.

borla open plate sounds good on a totally stock car with cats . duals relly make the ride sound good with a cam . dumps are good other than if you dont like breathing in exhaust somtimes . duals out the back is the best thing as you will be done with it .

I had magnaflow on my CTSV and it sounded stock with cats in place (at idle and part throttle) and without cats was just a little louder, I switched the mufflers for flowmaster super 44s and it was completely different. Much louder at idle and part throttle and slightly louder WOT.

And on my WS6 I have magnaflow with cats, and it might as well be stock. But being an auto and soon to have a huge stall, quiet is what I was after.
