I recently installed hooker lt, hooker ory, and hooker catback, i knew going to the ory and headers would make the car louder than stock setup with just cat back but dam, i didn't know it would be this loud. It's ok just creeping around but when i get on it a little it to loud for me and not the good loud either. I have heard of people putting a bullit muffler in the I pipe but when i looked in summit it showed the bullit to be rectangular kind of like the flowmaster race muffler, I always assumed the bullit was round like a glasspack. would that be my best setup or what. I don't want to go back to cats cause i have already spent too much money on ory, and simms. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have read on the forum and in gm hightech performance that some people install either a dynomax bullet or a magnaflow bullet to kill the rasp. I know both of those look like glasspacks and aren't rectangular. Hope this helps.

I too have the same problem. O just installed Pacesetter & ORY & currently have the Borla.
Idle, cruising & "light" acceleration sounds great. however between 2 & 3 K sounds like a damn Glasspack!!! So tomorrow i am going to have a "Twister" muffler installed in the Y pipe itself. Should eliminated most, if not all of the rasp. Anything will help.!

yep, ordered the 23 1/2 version, now if i could only find a place for tuning without driving for 8 hours, it sucks living in backwoods, hillbilly arkansas. I have yet to talk to someone that has heard of edit.

Tack25, to me rasp is part of the exhaust note through a certain RPM that is louder than the rest of the RPM ranges. For me its like PewterY2KZ28 said from 2k to 3k, sounds like a dam outboard boat motor out of the water, even with the hooker catback which i had read was one of the best at stopping rasp. I don't know if a chambered muffler is capable of stopping rasp, cause there is nothing there to absorb the exaust pulses, ie. fiberglass or something to that effect.

I was having this problem before I went to true duals but one of the things that I was thinking may have helped was a better shaped y. The hooker one is not really to smooth and it also goes from 3 down to 2.5? where the catback fits on it which I would imagine causes alot of turbulence. Only problem with this is that a good y costs alot of money that could be put towards other things.
