Default Pics of my BAD Rusty Knock Sensors!!!

The sensor on the right is the front one. Both of the holes had a good bit of water in them. I replaced both sensors and the harness and the damn oil sending unit that I broke while I was removimg the intake (see my other post).

Thanks,
Jason

mine looked the same way... this is a typical "normal" problem with the ls1's... I put blue silicon sealant over the top of mine after swapping them out to keep it from happening again...

Good catch. BTW, when taking close up pictures, use the macro mode on your camera (has the flower icon on a button somewhere). That way the pic will be in focus.

I think I may have the same issue on my 99 TA. This might seem like a dumb question but can you reuse the intake gaskets on an LS1? Or do I need to buy new ones? I heard some people say it could be reused. I just got the car so I don't know for sure. It has some pretty high miles. around 140,000. Another thing do you need a special socket to get those out or will a regular deep socket work the same.

Yea, I reused my old gaskets they looked fine to me. I think the socket I used was a 6 point 19 or 21mm. I cant remember, not trying to give false info but I beleive i'm close.

They are reusable to an extent, if you pull the intake off and they all look smashed and completely flush with the intake, i'd recommend replacing them, theyre only like 20 bucks at autozone, and if you have 140k, you should replace them, if they car only had 40k id say reuse them. I pulled mine off and they were in need of replacement (152k). For the money, you are crazy if you dont replace them when they are that old.

literally takes like 30 to 45 min. I used a 15/16 socket for the knock sensors.

I don't know how long they have been bad. How bad is it to drive with them being bad? I really don't notice any difference to the car other than an eratic idle. But its not really bad.
