Is it the Borla muffler that sucks?
I've posted my Borla catback for sale locally in Raleigh NC because I want a new Hooker catback unless someone can tell me that there is a muffler that fits that will resolve the power suckage. Is it the muffler itself or a combination of it and the y flange disturbing the flow on the passenger side?

borla does flow good since its essentially an expensive cutout imo. i hate the sound of it. i would go with the hooker exhaust. idk why but i've always like that system.

...I actually thought the best flowing exhausts were the SLP 2OTL catback and the GMMG. Of course the SLP 2OTL hasn't been made in years either, but they pop up from time to time in the classifieds and usually run between $250 - $350 depending on the condition.
I've got a 2OTL and allthough it does look a little odd IMO, it sounds AWESOME!

Wow, my Borla has always been a fine flowing system, never had a complaint other than the rasp...but hey only the people behind you have to deal with that! I made damn good power with my little 383 stroker motor through the Borla.

I've never seen an independent dyno test testing all the F-body catbacks, so for all intents and purposes, no one on this forum knows definitively with any hard evidence that any other catback outflows a Borla. All you'll have is a bunch of people defending their own purchase, which is why the lower priced catbacks often get the most votes.

That's because not many people have Borla and people vote for what they have. People are largely followers and nutswingers, sadly Borla is a $900 catback, and I'm willing to bet it will outflow a Magnaflow. However, since 10 times more people on this site have a Magnaflow because it's half the price, you'll get 10 times more people saying it "flows better" even though they have no data supporting it and oxidizr himself, a Magnaflow rep, said it's restrictive over 400rwhp (which is why they were building a race catback a while back that I guess fell through?).

Maybe I'll just get a McCord powerplate. I took a solid piece of stainless and drilled 4 or 5 holes in it. The ones with different diameter holes in them are just too loud and "splatty" or raspy I guess. Choco, I may just agree with you about the cheaper theory. I may be victim of the "quieter" is slower on my own car. Quite a few bring up GMMG, which isn't cheap.
