1 3/4" Headers vs 1 7/8" Headers ?!?!?
Header primary size is one of the most overhyped topics on the internet. The cup guys are using the same size tubes on their 440 hp restrictor plate engines as their 850+ hp unrestricted stuff. There are much more important things to focus on.
Choco I have a $1700 head/cam combo and make around 100 more rwhp more than you. You say thats not impressive??????? Oh thats right I dont have QTP's so my car sucks.
I ran a 13.0 @ 110 with a lid,ported tb and hooker catback.
I added a set of ARH headers and ran a 12.75 @ 113 (stock tune) stock 245/50/16 goodyears
H/C 12.4 at 119 All times with 60' of 2.1-2.2's all on stock tires.

Very impressive 
I have zero interest in a H/C package. I don't want more power. I drive my car two days a month if that. I have put 2,000-3,000 miles on my headers since I installed them over 14 months ago. I go to the track maybe once or twice a year if I even make it at all. I don't really care about numbers or timeslips. I only care about how it behaves on the street, how it looks, how it sounds and its fuel efficiency. I have no interest in anything more than full exhaust, intake and a tune. That's why it's all I have. I can count on two hands the number of times I've gotten into a street race. Not everyone needs to dump thousands upon thousands of dollars into their cars to feel validated. Don't forget that. You say that you don't care to invest alot into your ride, then brag about how it will smoke everything or how other people's setup's arent good.
Mine looks like **** and runs low 11's..you wouldn't think by looking at it, you don't hear me telling people that I don't care about how theirs looks..
There is no need to be bashing on anyone's ride..you do what you do with yours, and you are happy, and we all do what we do with ours. I don't feel validated by the money I have in it, I feel happy when I beat the hell out of someone and leave them with a priceless WTF look on their face.
That makes me happy cause it's something that I built with my hands, nothing bought assembled in my Car..
How bout we stop taking worthless shots at each other..don't talk your car up if you don't have it setup or even care to run it..

The fact is, 1 3/4" headers are better for a 346ci LS1 in almost every case. If you don't want to believe that, fine. It's your loss. I've done all I can.

Mmm...no there's not. That's the point. In fact, if there is a 3rwhp gain up top and you lose 20rwtq down low, you have a significant loss. Most people have street cars. Low end and midrange is just as important as a gain up top small enough to constitute dyno error or varying ambient conditions. Maybe a large FI, nitrous or stroked LS1. Not a 346 in most applications.
I'm interested on how they would do on my 402 with the L92 Heads. I'm thinking about getting Headwork done to open up the Exhaust a little more, and use them Headers to see what type of gain it would pull. Then combine that with a Victor Jr. Intake to open up the Intake and get more RPM's..

hey choco, you may as well give up on this fight. i do agree with you and your point, but until you get a dyno nobody will believe. but also this guy is also going to be upgrading so it may do him better with the 1 7/8 headers. like the saying goes opinions are like a--h--e's everybody has one.

Since when does power under 3,000 rpm matter? We're not discussing diesels here. When you race, you will never see rpm that low anyways. There is a reason why you dont see 1500 rpm dyno pulls. IT'S POINTLESS!

It might have to do with street cars spending 99% of their time under 3,000 rpm's. It could have something to do with the overwhelming majority of people on this site spending way more time on the street than at the track. I care about power all over the curve, not just above 5,000 rpm's. I believe that there are many others who believe that as well.

So when you're roll racing from 40 mph in an A4 and at WOT, you fall right into that huge dead spot, that low end won't help, right? Just like the low end won't hurt get you through first gear. Or help 60 foot times. Or aid in driveability. Or increase efficiency...
