Default Yes another cam thread

Ok, I've read many threads on cams including the sticky and my head is spinning lol so i decided to just start another one in my search for the "right" cam. I have a 2000 Z28 with the basic mods, all the "free" mods, smooth bellow, Slpl lid, and SLP loudmouth cat back. I'm going to be going with LT headers and Y-pipe also. I'm at a point now that the car is no longer a DD. I have a company truck and I just picked up a 2004 Chevy 2500 crew cab so the car will only go out when I feel like taking it out. This is going to be the start of a larger build that will include heads at some point. In the end I'm looking for a 450-500 Hp car that just sounds bad ***! I've always been a HUGE fan of the rough idle muscle cars. There is nothing better in my mind then the sound of a bad *** car barely idling as its sitting rocking side to side at a red light. Over the years I have done my fair share of high speed screwing around on the highways with the mustangs and imports but now I'm just looking for low end power. I want a crazy looking and sounding car with the nut to back it up. This is not a track car.

I hope all this blabbing helps give you an idea of what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys,
-Rich-

your best bet is a custom grind cam, but a couple of off the shelf cams i would recommend are the torquer v3, or TR 230 both make lots of torque and pull hard up top

Thanks guys, the TSP 233/239, .595"/.603" seems pretty impressive. Now I'm not that familiar with internals so what else is needed with a cam swap? Springs, rods etc. Basically list out everything needed.

Thanks,

since the car isnt a daily driver, and you want the nastiest sounding, big power producing cam then would look into the TREX or MS4 or something that big.

THE TREX WILL HAVE NONE OF THIS!!! you need a medium to smaller cam to have low end power. my advice is either have one spec'd or stay way from donkey dick cams. yes most of them make great numbers but on the street they get outrun by smaller/better driving cammed cars.

Ok I've been really thinking about this and I'm starting to like the TR 233/239, .595"/.603" < I would like to see the HP curve if anyone has it. I was looking at some smaller cams but this seems to be small enough to give me some lower and mid power while still being a somewhat mild cam. Am I thinking about this right?
