Default six speed drivers

what cam would you all recommend for awesome performance.
i have a 98 camaro six speed stock but i do have in storage a good set of 5.3 heads, some 241 milled .030, some long tube pacesetter, 342, 410 gears, bbk intake ,ls6 intake, 85mm throttle body. and n2o. so with this stuff waiting to go in to my car what cam would you recommend. i really dont care about street manners but i would like to stay away from ms4 size cams. i would like for the car to have awesome street and track power.

from what ive read the 98 rod bolts and oil system is not as good as the newer ones so you want to keep it below 6600. ide get the torquer II on the tightest lsa you can

mine is a 98 m6 cam only with the torquer 2. love it

this is what im goin with and y

"The problem with camshafts is that they're completely subjective. What one thinks is perfect another thinks is too big, too small, too much, not enough, etc. Below are the specs on both camshafts:

Torquer v.2: 232/234, .595"/.598", 112 or 113 LSA standard
Torquer v.3: 231/234, .643"/.598", 111 LSA standard

There were a few goals in designing the T3 cam:

1. better low-end and mid-range compared to the T2
2. more aggressive ramp rate on the intake for better power
3. all around great street/strip cam that is very driveable with a good tune

As you can see, the T3 does have one less degree of duration @ .050" on the intake. It's a more aggressive lobe that ramps up faster vs. the lobe on the T2. It provides greater net lift and allows for quicker opening and closing of the intake valve. Again, whether or not a cam works great in the mid-range is dependent on what you're comparing it to. A smaller cam like our 224R or 228R will provide you with a little more low-end power, but it won't make as much peak power. The T2 camshaft was designed to give customers the ability to make some great power without going too big on cam and without feeling like they didn't go big enough. The T3 was just a revision of the T2. With all other variables of a camshaft held constant, a tighter (i.e. lower numerically) LSA with added advance will help low-end and mid-range power. You can change just these two aspects and completely change the characteristics of how well a camshaft works. The goal is to find the happy medium where the cam works well and makes great power without falling off too quick up top or completely lacking any oomph down low. Some of these issues cannot be 100% solved with adjusting LSA and ICL. A lot of duration relative to the size of the engine is still going to have certain characteristics that go along with it, no matter the LSA or ICL.

The net result is that the T2 and T3 will make comparable power. The T3 is going to provide you with a little more low-end and mid-range power vs. the T2, and it also gives you the capability to use a little more of the flow potential of a good set of ported heads.

ok first off, if he doesnt want a donkey dick cam, why would u recommend a donkey dick cam?

and second, you are sadly mistaken if you think that the biggest baddest cam on the market is the best for a DD. are they streetable, absolutely. are they realistic for the average DD, NO!

like ls1-navy said above, the t2 or t3 would both be great for your application. both makin plenty of "under the curve power" and both making great numbers. oh and they LOVE n20

I have the F-13 and it is very similar to the T2 above and I love it so far. My next mod will be a 9" rear and maybe some stickies.

i have a cam similar to the ones mentioned above (230/234) and it drives very well on the street and pulls pretty hard at the track, however to be honest sometimes i wish i went a little bigger. But anyway i was very surprised because it feels almost as strong down low as it did stock but pulls alot harder in the upper rpms

some times smaller cams are easier to drive and are still very quick.

224R or 228 on a 112 for an M6

I'm using a custom 228/232 on XER lobes. Very happy with it and it has nice all around power.

I have to Torquer 3 and love it with the UDP and cam I picked up 72rwhp the car drives great and pulls great. I'm not saying it's the best cam but I love it and do not regret it at all.

Yeah, I run a custom 226/232 - and am very pleased with it. I wouldn't go much bigger than that for a DD
