I wasn't speaking of loosing power, just the cam surge with those gears.

all tuning.. yes it is harder to tune a bigger cam but a capable tuner should have no problem handling the task.
stock gears for me 3.42's no surging or bucking. even higher gears, going up hill etc..

now if you dont have a great tuner around you then I wouldnt do it either.

I agree, your tune sounds it needs fixing. should be 900RPM. id have the tune file revamped by another tuner coz it sounds like other tables may be off too. if your far away from someone reputable, consider mail order tune.

Damn crazeez06, you sound very convincing. Hell, if its not a DD, why not go MS4!!??.. but seriously, I drive rarely above 2500rpm, but when I want to have fun, I rev to the moon if needed lol

I was tuned at TTP, they know their ****. I have a vacuum leak somewhere and I have no clue where(all gaskets were changed 2times). Still, it never goes lower than 1100-1000rpm. TTP is 8 hours drive, but I would make it back to save the tuning cost around here(1000$++) . Or might consider a mail tune, but not sure at all about that. But I have nitrous to tune too, so its 2 for 1..and free next time at TTP!

And when I look at this thread, I dont see any reason to go smaller than MS4:

Same power under the curve, just better top end!

id check out 233/239 seems to be a great cam with best of both worlds.

i ran stock gears on my t2 for a while, after the gear swap its not even the same car. so much more fun to drive around town now. no more bucking and spitting at low rpms.

no such thing as best of both worlds..

if you do a 233/239 your just going to regret that you didnt go a LITTLE bigger and make the #s you expect. I can assure you there is no difference between a tuned 233/239 vs a 238/244. they will idle the same surge a little but with tuning you can get it out. good tuning some gears and no surge at all. great driving car just like all the other cammed cars..
