thats where i put mine at,,,its a T-fitting that you will need to remove, drill and tap to screw in your sending unit that you got with your gauge (or elsewhere)....im not sure of the size at this point but may have that info at home....the two bolts that hold the T fitting to the block are 10 or 11 mm,,,,its been a while

you may want to post this up in the external section for better results.

Most of the oil temperature sensors I've seen (Autometer and the like) are 1/8-27 NPT.
This thread/tap requires an "R" letter size tap drill (0.339" dia-can be found at an industrial supply/machine supply shop).

Usually the casting hole thats already partially formed in the fitting may be slightly larger than this diameter towards the top of the hole, but will work if you don't tap it too deeply with the pipe tap. Don't tap any further down than 6 or 7 full threads from the top of the tap as the tap is tapered (I believe at 1.5 degrees) so the deeper you go - the wider the hole and this can cause the sensor not to seal correctly.

errr..... I got this info out of a box of Cracker Jacks.

let me rephrase this; I dont have an oil temp gauge, im assuming thats what this hole was for, so would it be ok to plug it, I have a temp plug (not a perm one) size is M16-1.50 pitch. Anyone know where I can get a true m16 x 1.5 plug.

Could you be talking about the oil divertor plate? That's held on by 2 10mm bolts above the oil filter. Not quite sure where I'm looking in the pic cause of the shadows.

OK, wrong side of block, I believe yer talking about the coolant access hole near/above the starter. Yep its 16MM by 1.5 pitch I believe, you should be able to pick up a plug at any "real" hardware store OR put a real temperature gauge/sensor there.

you can get a new plug for like six dollars from your GM dealer, I don't have the part number but they can look it up for you.
