Default TR224 114 vs 112 lsa

I've settled on the tr224. Now it is to decide between the 112 and 114 lsa. This is going into an LQ9 in a fullsize truck. It will likely be run with a Yank 3000 stall, or possibly even on the stock stall, I don't know yet. I am concerned with low speed bucking or stalling and AC issues at idle. I've read that a spot on tune will eliminate all these problems. Assuming the driveability can be brought near stock with the 112lsa, what difference in power will I feel between the 112 and 114? Generally what rpms do the 112 and 114 peak at? Thanks for your help!

go with the 112 instead of the 114. im running a vig 3200 stall and a 112 cam. i would say go a little bigger on the stall. go with atleast a 3200 or yank ss3600 stall. it will be a nice combo with that 224 cam. dont worry bout the bucking or surging. you will need to get a tune and the tuner will be able to get rid of that stuff for you. and dont get a cam without the stall. get the stall first then the cam.

The 112 lsa is going to bring your power band down a bit. This will bring your power in sooner, but I think it will also make it slightly more peaky than the 114...nothing drastic. Because of this, the 114 will probably carry peak out a little further than thr 112 and will most likely have a flatter curve throughout. As for the idle, well that's a given. The 112 will definitely chop more. If you are worried about low rpm surging and a/c issues, either go with the 114 or get yourself a good tuner.

Thanks for the reply TXZ. I've gotta stick with the TT3000 stall because it's the one that's going to allow me to still tow.

no problem man!! but i think the 224 cam/ 3k stall will be a good match. ive seen a few guys go with a 224 cam and 2800 stall.

I'm going to add a tranny cooler as well. I should probably get an HD-2 shift kit too. Is my 150,000 mile 4l60e going to be on life support? lol.

I saw an LQ4 with longtubes, underdrive pulley, kn intake, and efans make 390 rwhp/380 tq. My bone stock LQ9, stock intake and exhaust, and 89 tune put down 267rwhp/296tq in 2nd gear with tq converter unlocked. Since then I've put a cutout and ported TB.

man, thats a big gamble throwing a cam/stall on a 150k mile tranny. i would consider freshening up the 4L60E first.

If it blows so be it. It still shifts like new. I don't beat on my vehicle.
