I decided to finish porting my tb today and i after i put it all back together properly i reset the computer and let it idle for ten minutes. Then i took it out and WOT it to let the computer learn the new setup and my first pull to to 6K the reduced engine power flashed and my check engine light came on. I stopped the car and restarted it and it seemed to drive normally but made a odd sound almost like a squeek on and off and you can only hear it inside the car. I took off the intake and checked the TB. Its got alot of fluid on it and it smells like gasoline more than usual. I put premium in but i only noticed after i put the gas in they were refilling the tanks.

Anyone?

 

Did the car run OK? You said the light came on, but did it feal down on power? This may be basic, but did you plug all of the electrical sensors and connectors back in? I forgot to plug my MAF in once and it ran really rich.

 

yes i did plug them all in properly. i double checked everything. the sound is a giveaway something is wrong. Dirty gas plug an injector and it leaned out you think?

 

yup did on a buddys truck b 4..the maf was unplugged and it ran pig rich

 

i tried it again and same thing.... : ( i think i got detonation damage. I'd like someone in the knows opinion though....

oh come on guys thats it? Whats the plausable worst case scenerio? I'm getting the code read tommorow so the point of this thread is to get an idea of what to expect.

 

It is very hard to just speculate what happened to your car just by saying the check engine light came on and it went into reduced power mode. We need to know what code is causing the check engine light 1st. Recheck everything you did, it started after you put the ported TB on so I would check everything there. Is the maf in the correct direction, seen this before. Worst case the motor is done, best case this is a minor issue that can be fixed in minutes. That is about all the help you can get with the info you posted so far. Get the code, recheck your work, and then maybe you will be able to get some answers.

 

my intake had a problem. Just had a vacume leak. its fine now. runs rich as **** still... need a tune pretty soon. the code went away too so i think its all fine and dandy. Sorry peoples for waisting your time and thanks for the responses ; )

BTW about how much would replacing my synchros cost with labor? any guesses?
