Default Lifter preload?

So what is the correct lifter preload with YT rockers? Some say zero lash then 1/4 to 1/2 turn and then 22 ftlb. Others say zero lash then 1 and 1/2 to 2 turns then 22 ftlb. Which is it?

well, it depends very much on which lifters you are using.

If you are using stock lifters, they like more preload. I personally would not go less than about 3/4 of a turn on stock lifters, otherwise I would expect some noise. 1 1/2-2 turns would be fine, I think, but a little more than you need.

For Comp R lifters, I would go with approximately 1/4-1/2 of a turn.

Well I have the stock lifters. I think the just over 1/4 turn of preload that I have now is not enough and that's why my valvetrain is so noisy.

If the YTs are adjustable, then the 22 ft-lbs torque adjustment seems not applicable.

Yeah how the hell do you preload lifters with non-adjustable rocker arms

Yella Tera's are non adjustable. You need shims or you need to buy the right size push rods! I think stock lifters like to have around .030-.050 preload and Comp R's like .010...

This is exactly what I have been thinking. Can someone explain this?

you have to either put shims under the rocker arm or change the length of the pushrod in order to get the preload right, maintain the 22lbft necessary to keep the rocker there, and keep a reasonable semblance of valvetrain geometry.
