Default 440 engine build

I wanna take a stock ls1 block and build it as a 440 stroker while using 241 casting heads ported with larger valves. Trying to make 500 RWHP undercover in the apperance of a stock ls1. I'd like to keep the CR around 10.5 to 1 Any thoughts.

resleeving the block is going to be expensive.

+1...Are you trying to do it keeping a total stock appearence? So keeping an LS6 intake and stock exhaust manifolds or what?

They probably wont. You will save alot of cash by going with a 6 liter block and maybe some L92 heads? I dont know much about the gen 4 motors.

No, i know i could save money going that way but i want the appreance of the ls1 for several reasons weight being the biggest issue. Sleeveing the block is no problem. Has anyone completed a similar build, from what i have read 440 is about all i could get id realy like to go bigger.

sacrificing power for the mere look of an ls1 is not a great idea.

So are you saying the 241 heads ported wont flow enough. What about 243 heads ported, do i have any other options?

What heads would i need to make the combination work

I know of a company that resleeves the LS1 and bores it out to like 499 cubic inches. Dont know the name but I remember hearing about them.

The problem here is the bore, if you go to a 460 the bore is so big the sleeves are worthless outside of a NA motor and there is no room to re machine if nessary. I need more stroke.

At 440 the sleeves still have enough meat for a turbo or nitrous with a little room to re machine if somthing happens. I'm just not sure what heads i'll need for the motor to work right. I could use aftermarket heads if i had to.

Almost certain you would have to use aftermarket heads. TFS!!!
