thats as cheap as you can get the main parts (crank, rods, pistons).....there is still bearing, bolts, gakets, ballance, etc.....

Re: cheap 382 Thanks for the help guys. I am just starting to look into getting me a new motor and looking for ideas to build one cheap. If anyone else has any ideas that could help me i would like to hear them.
Re: cheap 382 I'm in the same boat....I'm trying to build an all bore 388 (4.125") with a re-sleeved block, forged pistons and rods, and the stock crank.....even doing all the assembly and install myself it will still be AT LEAST $4500....

Re: cheap 382 I think the "cheaper" way to go would be with an all bore '382. This is the route I would go, but for a big bore motor you are going to need some good heads. Go ahead and do the heads and a decent sized cam first, then take the plundge into a block/pistons. Baby steps my man...Baby steps

Hey 2000Camaro:
If you are going that route, why not increase the throw of the crank to 4.125 and get 396CI? This units is avcailable from SDPC for $200 extra...
