Default G5X2

Anyone know the numbers on this cam? I've heard of it lots of times, but I've never known the lift and duration on it. Thanks

Yeah, this cam is the mutt's nuts. I'm bummed because they're coming out with a new version, not I need to do another cam swap. Well, they're "testing" it, so I guess I've got time. I wish all vendors tested things before they sold them. Lou rules!

Valve Float

I talked to Lou about this (have 987s with my TR224). He told me the 987s will "work" if I don't take the car past 6500. Above that the 987s WILL float. His suggestion was to upgrade to 977s (which will require Comp R lifters....factory/GM lifters will not work with the 977s spring pressure)

I wouldn't say they dream up specs, but making sure a package has P to V clearance or works with stock components seems to be a problem for some as of late.

I have bent 8 valves from running these **** poor 987s. They are perfectly fine for <230 XER but when you get this big your going to float over 6-6500 depending on install height. I am sure you can set them up at 1.700 and make them work but your going to be close to coil bind. 977s are the way to go but you need Comp R lifters for any spring over 375-400lbs over the nose of the cam. If your running a 232/240 XER with 987s and rev your car past 6-6300 on a regular basis you may have bent valves already. My car started slightly stuttering at low speeds and thought it was due to the big cam but it was slightly bent valves. I would like to introduce Mr. floating valve to Mr. Piston...<Wack>

I use comp 978's, for anything less than .600 lift, they are good, worked heads let them sit at 1.850" installed.
I would say the 977's or the dual rev's are the way to go with the g5x2
