About what? The bar belle thing? I did check to make sure it was there, and it is. Just curious I'd it could have blown out or something. And no I haven't contacted the builder yet. I don't believe he'll have any thing good to say.

 

UPDATE: Finally got around to pulling the trans out to check the barbell plug. It was in there. The o-ring looks fine on it. But it is very discolored compared to the barbell i took out of my stock block, for comparision. Also I took my cam out to check the bearings. The bearings have a few scratches on them I can feel with my fingernails. Also the very back cam bearing seems like it might not be in there right? It doesnt sit as far back as what my stock block cam bearing does....I have some pictures I took, I would like to get some opions. Also I found that the barbell out of my LS2 block is different than that of my LS1 block. I hav included a picture of this to. Maybe I can get some more feedback from you guys, thanks again...

 

That cam bearing should be in the center of the hole. If it's too far forward the oil groove will be exposed and bleed off all of the oil pressure. I can't see the groove in the pic, but it looks like the bearing would be right on the edge of it. Either it was installed wrong or it spun and moved forward.

Yeah i'm going to. It just sucks I only got to make one trip around the block...how hard would it be to change that bearing out with the motor still in the car. Is it even possible?

 

is it no 1 cam bearing? if so easy. no 5 hard but not bad if the tranny is out.

 

Yeah it's 5 I guess? The one closest to the rear of the motor. And yes the trans is out.

 

well I took a closer look at the cam bearing again tonight. You can see that the edge of the bearing is sitting in the middle of the oil passage. If you look closely in the picture I posted you can see a dark spot, and thats where I guess I'm loosing my oil pressure...Does anyone think it was just not installed correctly, or did it "walk" foward?

 

So is the oil hole half way covered and the other half of the hole just open so the oil will go out behind the bearing? If so then that's your problem. I would say it just wasn't installed right. Somebody in a hurry

 

It must have moved some seeing as you had oil pressure at first. Maybe it was on the edge of the galley, but it is hard to determine that now. The cam bearings are different sizes and if installed in the wrong place it would cause problems. Did the cam spin freely in the block?

 

Yeah the bearing is exposing the oil hole. But the cam bearing oiling hole is lined up with the one on the block. What would be the chance of the bearing to spin and line up again after it quit spinning?

A friend of mine is going to make a tool that will let us pull the bearing back. How much resistance should there be when we start pulling on it

 

Should be a fair amount of resistance. The installation tool is basically a big punch that you use to beat the bearing in with a hammer. It takes a pretty good whack of the hammer to move the bearing.

 

Did you ever get this resolved? Was it the cam bearing? Lot's of useful info in this thread members could learn from!
