Default Do I have everything for cam swap?

I decided just to put a cam in my auto 2002 z28 instead of selling it and getting a m6 to put over 400whp so I don't have to bother selling my car and finding another. Do I have everything listed I would need or any other parts recommended over the listed (besides a recommended different cam) Thanks

2002 a4 z28 48,100miles

Ls2 timing chain
Tr224/224 .563 .563 114 cam
Ti retainers if there is any gain with a 6300/6400 redline
Gm gasket set and balancer bolt
ASP belts and underdrive pulley
shorties (any recommended?)
GM header gaskets
vettedoctors dyno tune
thunderracing 7.400 pushrods
value stem seals
dual patriot gold springs (would appreciate recommendations here mostly)

What idle speed should a tr224 be set at also and do you think it's worth 55rwhp. Thanks.

curious why you going with shorties? for the money may as well get long tubes and the gain will be greater. From your list you will need a good set of valve springs. Don't forget spring seats too

I'm in NY so only shorties would be legal, I would get LT's if I could find a shop that would overlook the visual inspection.

It moves the location of the cats so it's illegal, I'll try to find a shop that would overlook that before buying shorties though.

Don't waste your money on shorties. You won't gain much for your trouble.

You dont need to drop the coin on the dual spring kit.
PAC 1218's are a direct drop in and would be a great choice. I have them for $155 shipped. You dont need titanium retainers you use your stock retainers and you diont need to change seats for seals. With your cam choice this is a good way to go. Will be stable and cost effective.

Nothing wrong with the Patriot kit its a good kit, but you dont need it.

Tools to do the job would be good to look at unless your not doing the work?

Using the stock rocker arms? Maybe a set of 1.6/1.7s for a little more lift from your cam (not sure how much you'll benefit given the stock heads or how much lift the stock heads accept).

And yea are you doing the work yourself? Cam degree wheel...break in lube? idk.

I just bought a 2000 camaro ss slp myself so i'm not expert in the category i know more about old school SBCs but w/ those you'd usually want the tools to install it and definitely some rocker arms for higher rpms/more lift.

Stock rockers are 1.7-1 and are usually good unless the needle bearings come out but you would find those on a oil change.

But tools and assembly lube are a good idea

thats the springs i run. you dont need double springs w that cam. i would swap springs, pushrods, timing chain and oil pump. i wouldn't fool with the seats, retainers, and valve seals. and to the question of is this cam and underdrive pulley worth 55 hp? i say maybe. i dropped four tenths with traction problems with my tr224 114 with no pulley.

Keep in mind that if you do dual springs and you plan on doing this swap yourself, you will have a hell of a time getting those duals compressed safely without the proper tool. Unless you're just planning on pulling the heads..

Thanks for responces, I guess I'll go with the beehive springs, and not get retainers, seats, and seals. Any recomendations between SLP, pacesetter, and MAC mids in terms of hp and installation difficluty and sparkplug access.

where in ny are you.. wouldnt think it would be that hard to find a shop that will inspect it, as long as you have cats and arent throwing any codes
