Yeah, but a heavy Mo fu. The 44 was much lighter and took some abuse. I got lucky back in the days to get one from a trashed 89 Turbo TA to use in my 85 IROC and it was a nice PnP.
Took the abuse of a BBC 502,A3 with no issues.
Yep, it is heavy and most of us wouldn't need it. A 12 bolt or 9" would work fine.
If you have a dana 44 for a 3rd gen could it be converted easily to a 4th gen? I don't know, I have never owned a 3rd gen to know what the rear end looks like.
