Default High Mileage Heads/ Cam (Damage?)

hey guys my 2002 WS6 is comin up on 120,000 miles, it has a handful of mods on it already, rides pretty smooth and has had no internal problems what so ever. I want 2 put in a Texas-Speed Torquer V2 cam in it, 232/234duration .590/.598ish lift, and a set of stage 2.5 5.3L heads, yella terra 1.7 non- adj rockers, 7.4 chromemoly puchrods, ls7 lifters, #42 lb-hr injectors. My question is, with the amount of miles already on the car is that wise to do, will it blow up or can it handle it. what do you guys think?
Thx,
Tom

I dont think the rocker arms would be a good idea, it might push the valves into the piston. If it were my car i would at least have the bottom end rebuilt before i put the H/C combo. It might last another 120k or it might go at 121k, i really dont know. I would recomend saving a little more and have the motor rebuilt at the same time the H/C combo goes on. This is just my opinion though, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

yea i know what yea mean sscamaro2000, iv been thinking the exact same thing, but my one friends camaro is pushin 134k and he has an ms4 cam in it, so once again idk what to believe everyone who has an one of these vehicles, and actually knows what they're talkin about has said that the stock bottum end has proven to be very durable.

127k on the clock with my brothers head and cam combo and it's still as strong as day 1. I think they just want to make sure you dont start trying to run 7k with a "well used" motor. Obviously if you are getting that combo for a reason so.... just make sure you get the supporting mods. new chain or double roller, ported and shimmed ls6 oil pump and new lifters.

Properly set up Heads & Cam packages can go for many miles if the valve springs are changed out like they should be etc. Mine has 80,000 miles on H&C with the car having 112,000 miles on it.

With that said, it shouldn't cost that much to come up with an LS1 core short block and have a reputable shop freshen it up. Then put the H&C on it and swap engines. Given the miles your car has on it, that's what I'd do.

If you must do H&C on your high mileage car, do a leak down test on it first to make sure the rings seal well. I'd probably do an oil analysis too to see what's showing up in your oil.

Did you do the LS7 clutch fairly recently?

The stock rockers are 1.7 right? So why would yellaterra's be a bad idea?

wouldn't the yella terras be better though cuz they have rollers instead of a flat "beak" i've heard that they're a lot smoother and help the engine rev quicker.

Stock rockers are 1.7, so if you use the same ratio like stated there should be no issue caused by the rockers themselves. But you should post this in the internal section.

interesting now how much will the stock rockers take as far as durability, i wanted to change them for that as long as how many miles were already on the car

I had those heads and an MS3 in it for a while and it didnt blow up. Don't let high milage scare you with these cars. If you take good care of it they will last a long time.
