hmm, that looks like an exhaust valve to me, since it's next to that penny for scale.

Thats what I was thinking! Strange, sorry bud, the head is probably fucked either way, better for it to get pushed into the intake rather than getting into a fight with the piston and the head.

Your lucky (?) it didn't get sucked into another cylinder and thrash around in there for awhile.

Worst? scared the cylinder wall so bad the block needs re-sleeved, wasted the head.
New shortblock and money to fix AFR's.
I have a 408 for 4000 right now so your looking at roughly say 5000 with fixing the head and shipping and new shortblock.

OR it just smacked the piston and broke the valve clean blasting the peices back into the intake and nothing bounced around or got lodged between the piston and CylWall and the head was sparred as well.

Take some pics and show us the carnage when you get the head off.

keep the intake off and pull all the plugs. then shine a really bright flashlight into each cylinder. you will find the one thats broken that way.

worse case scenario? you fucked you head and your cylinder wall, you have to scrap your motor, find a stock engine, drop it in, then drive the car off a cliff...just make sure you have full comprehensive insurance before hand.

jk.

sucks. talked to you on friday aaaaaaand it happens. guess you shoulda bought a ford...

Lots of times the pieces will go to multiple cylinders through the intake. You need to pull both heads & any pistons that show any marks from the valve.

Well actually if it scarred the block it couldn't be too much. All he would have to do is pay to have the block bored to a 347 (3.905) that should fix the scarring. $300 for machine work.

Then buy new pistons and rings $500-$750 for forged with rings.

Then go ahead and add new bearings, $150.

Then Machining on your head to be fixed $???

Not to too bad. You also get to freshen up the motor so it lasts you many many years .

^ Yeah, that's if the nicks in the cylinder walls aren't too deep and can be cleaned up with a hone. I'm interested to see what comes out of this.
