Default Mystery Metal in My Intake.... GUESS

So I leave the stop sign, make a left turn, 2000 rpm and then
"poffcrrroff" not loud, violent, or scary... Just shut off, pulled to the side of the road tried to start it back up, runs for a second and then shuts off. Start it back up gas it a little bit to keep it running, and I would call it crackling, like something was rattling around, engine is shaking quite a bit so I shut it off. There is a little bit of smoke flowing out of the throttle body from the intake...

So this morning I took the intake off and this is what I found...

Valve? I have no clue...

Looks like a valve to me. What was your piston to valve clearances anyhow? O thou?

Haha well it was supposed to be ok, guess not, just kinda weird how it did it at such low rpm... I had done a hard pull on the highway earlier that day but everything was normal, drove about 15 miles before this...

I'll try and take the heads off sometime soon, hopefully the internal is ok, I can't afford to do anything right now

Ouch! Pull the valve covers and see if you had a spring break or are you saying you did a cam change and did not check ptv?

Well when I went with this setup I was told that it was 50/50. Me being stupid I didn't measure PTV clearance because I was told by LGM that it would fit (there heads and cam) I ran this setup hard for a good year, no problems... On the rev limiter multiple times, track runs, freeway races etc. I think this was a mechanical failure... I'll pull the valve covers today, check the springs. I dont think the heads will come off for another couple weeks (FINALS )

I'll let you guys know later today...

Any thoughts on whether this will be a nice and easy "replace a valve/spring" or do I have those "bigs problems" I am worried about

Well considering you spit part of the valve into the intake and then tried to run it you could be looking at some cylinder wall damage as well as the head is more than likey beat up. My guess is you wont be happy, not that your happy now but there could be some signifcant damage.

could be worse. Could have cracked the block. Although that wouldnt be a total loss. This is why i dont fear blowing my engine up

I see a junked head, or at least and valve seat and guild. But you can have it welded up and machined

Ya, AFR's are supposed to help PTVC. Don't get this thread wrong this is not meant to blame AfR or LGM, they are both great. I have a feeling that something else happened here due to the rpm I was at when it failed...

I really hope everything is ok, I cannot afford to do much of anything to fix it right now, looks like a stock motor will be going back into it..

Pulled the valve covers this morning, springs all look good...

Intake ports on the heads seem to be undamaged from what I can see, I'm lost... Gotta pull the heads...

I'll get pics up later today

"AFR 205 milled 59cc".
1.Added cam lift/duration + heads milled from 66.5, to 59CC = Kaboom.
2. Cam drive go tango uniform, as in a chain, gear problem?
3. Chinese valves?
4. Something from the tb, air intake, etc, go thru and start the reaction?
5. Lifter floated, guide hung on valve stem?
Hopefully, the answer[s] lie in the heads coming off. Gotta find/correct this, to help w/ longevity of the next build.
Good luck.
