Default pros/cons of running bigger injectors

picking up some 50# injectors (bosch greentops) with a FAST intake setup (all included).

right now i'm cam only ~400rwhp with stock injectors.

i know i'm not maxing out the duty cycle on the stock injectors, however i plan for heads in the future.

but for now, assuming the car is tuned for them, will there be any advantages to running the bigger injectors. i'll obviously be running them at a pretty low duty cycle.

is this a bad thing? should i just wait and run the stockers untill i get heads then swap them out?

i plan for a retune after swapping the intakes (and bigger injectors if possible)....cause it NEEDS IT BAD!

and i'd obviously retune after heads, but those may be over a year away.

I think that's way too big. You will probably be good with SVO/FRPP 30# injectors (that flow 36# with LS1 fuel pressure). Best bet is to tell your tuner what you are doing and he will give you a recommended size.

No, there will be no advantage.

The only "advantage" will be when you replace your heads and can then safely fuel your car without maxing out your injectors.

i know they are big, but they come with the intake, and as i stated i'll need new injectors when i put heads on the car.

and who knows...in enough time, i may build a stroker for the car. will be nice to have ONE set of injectors that will accomodate almost any setup

i'm getting them as part of a package deal...with a FAST intake, FAST tb, seals, hardware, sensors, fuel rail and the injectors (recently cleaned by lingenfelter with paperwork).

not bad for $1220 shipped

and after i sell my ls6 with ported TB....it should be about $900 total out of pocket.

so they are pretty much a steal...considering the intake and TB cost about what i'm paying.

A good reason to run bigger injectors is so you get a better controlled mist of fuel at higher rpms. Smaller injector will have a hard time keeping up therefore fuel sitting on the intake valve. Run a bigger injector the computer will compensate. And its safer. Just my .02

You're right to a point, but running injectors way too big for your combo will usually result in decreased driveability. If he's cam only then the stock injectors will work better in my opinion then he can swap in some larger ones with heads.

Default Assuming the car sees some time on the street

The smallest injector for the application (80-85% duty cycle at max) is usually the best injector for the applicaiton. Engines spend very little time in the high rpm and a lot in the lower rpm. The smaller injector will control the flow of fuel better and usually atomize the fuel better than the bigger injector.

I'd stay away from 50# injectors short of a power adder. Even a stroker should be happy with 36 or 42's the 50's are over kill.

I plan on use the 28.8# 02 stock injectors on my stroker. I'll let them spray at 100% or 105% the few seconds the engine is at high rpm & max output.

these are the bosch green tops...i think they are 42# at the 43psi fuel pressue i think. but at the ls1 pressure they are something like 50#s.

i don't plan to use them untill i get heads. and i MIGHT consider trading them out for smaller ones and get some cash back.

that's all down the road.

I had the same question . I am cam only now with stock fuel injectors and pump at 93% cycle duty I found a good deal on ported and re valved ls1 heads .. and planning on running a 150 shot dry. Thinking of getting 42# injectors with upgraded in tank fuel pump.. you think that will work?
