last of the Z28's

whats so hard to get springs that wont break?i have an 89 caprice(winter beater)with over 165,000 miles with no problems what so ever!no oil consumption,no leaks of any kind,original 10 bolt rear,4 speed auto,even the air conditioning still works!!!!!!!!!!all original!!!!no aftermarket no replacement parts on the car.

oh ya back to the springs....newbie here but what happens if you use the factory springs?

Hmm, five broken CC941's in one single road trip. POS MF)(*^*&%#%^@# things <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> would like to shove them up somebody's AZZ. Will definately go with a daul spring setup when I get back.

All of the aftermarket cams have more lift and more aggressive ramp rates than the stock cams in LS-1s. As lift increases and ramp rates get more aggressive valve-spring stress increases exponentially. If you run a healty cam on stock valvesprings they will break.

I've read about the dual-springs in the OEM spring pocket breaking too. I have no faith in any of them.

The key to spring longevity is warm up. Let the springs warm up to engine temp slowly. Too many people leave their house and a block away are already at WOT.

I always wait until the motor is up to full operating temperature before getting on it.
