Default 5.3 crank in my LS1

Hey Everyone,

Trying to make sure im not way off on this. I want to use my 5.3L crank in my LS1 since the LS1 crank is damaged, and teh 5.3L crank i have only has 3k miles on it.

They have the same stroke, and everything else abotu them seems the same.

Planning to put the crank in, and finish assembling the short block tommorow, just want to make sure im not off on this.

Thanks!

*REGENCY* just posted this in another tread the other day, so give him credit for this info.
"4.8 = 3.27 stroke, 6.278 rod length, and 3.779 flat top piston"
"5.3 = 3.622 stroke, 6.098 rod length, and 3.779 dished piston"

the 99-00 lq4 6liter had the thicker flange...all the other 5.3,5.7,and 6.0 cranks are interchangable...the pistons were the difference....the main difference is that the ls1 crank is gundrilled and the truck crank is not...if you are using stock pistons you will be fine...however forged pistons or rods will need balancing...

it will work, but youll need to get the entire rotating assembily balanced. the 5.7l pistons are much heavier than the 5.3l so it would give it a wicked internal vibration.
