Default Good idea to replace lifters during a head swap?

I am at 82k miles, doing head swap next month car only sees 4k-5k miles a year and had a TR224 cam swap at 75k. Stock lifters in there puting on some PRC 5.3 heads and right now TSP is running a sale on LS7 lifters for $120......should I throw them on there while doing head swap as insurance?

Good idea to replace the plastic lifter trays while you're in there too.

Post up your dyno graph when you get tuned, I'd like to see it. My setup is similar and I'm leaning towards the PRC 5.3 stg 2.5's in the spring.

Did you see this posted today. Similar setup but TSP224R on 112 lsa and a fast intake. Also milled down to a 59cc chamber. Great numbers:

Nice numbers, however that person should know that he/she/it should run maximum octane with such a high DCR. 1 bad batch of fuel could spell trouble.

on a 112+2 ~8.97 DCR
On a 112+4 ~9.11

Good point Get the LS2 trays as they are a little sturdier. You need 4 and they are like $7 a piece.....

I've removed my heads during the winter break also, and at 45k miles I'm also swappig in the LS7 lifters & LS2 trays now.

How about the screw or bolt tho? Is the same bolt used on the LS1 tray as the revised LS2 trays?

your old lifter tray bolts work fine. No need to get new ones.

I was wondering about that too. Can you get away with such a small chamber if you have a good quench number (thin MLS gasket). Or maybe running a graphite head gasket with a compressed thickness of ~0.057 is lowering the DCR/SCR a bit.

The LS7 lifters have replaced LS1's in the GM catalog.

The Caddys were developed for high rpm racing applications at sustained 8k rpm's. There have been many issues with them in street motors if you search on here. Not really sure if improper preload or what is really causing the problem. LS7's are fine for 7k+ as long as you don't live there.

If you really feel you need better go Morels or Crane but expect to shell out $500 for a set.

If i'm changing the oil I do the filter no question. As for the lifter yes change them, I didn't even think about it when I did my h/c and i'll be going in there this winter to mill the heads and change the lifters.

Believe me my friend Nothing but 93 octane here!!! Mark I followed your original advice via pm and those are the results I got, thank you. I am extremely pleased with the car. Also OP Just get the lifters and trays Its worth the extra 5min of labor. I have the ls7 lifter/ls2 trays and have zero issues now

P.S. I'm a HE haha
