Default Dart vs. PRC

Hey all just wondering if anyone has tested these heads against eachother, ported PRC 5.3's and ported darts. If you have info regarding this please post!

Dart vs. <insert head type here> has been covered ad nauseum here and in the dyno sections. I would suggest searching.......

I have but have found nothing but conflicting information. I was hoping people who have actually used the DART heads would post here with their numbers and experience.

I just pulled a set of Dart 205's that I am cleaning up to sell. I picked up 26 hp with them over the stock 241's that were on the car. This was with a small 216/224 cam.

I know that some folks prefer the Dart's over other heads and with work in the valve area get very good numbers out of them. But the work is expensive and most guys don't understand the expertise required to do this and cry when they see the cost.

Dart 205s picked up 26 rwhp on my z06 over the stock 243 heads with a Futral F14 cam.

The PRC stage 2.5 5.3l heads are fully cnc ported with out double spring good to .660" lift for a good bit of money less than the out of the box Darts. Do some research online & in magazines, I think you'll find for the money the PRC heads will perform very well..

I have Dart 225's but don't have any dyno comparison data to share.

I already have the PRC heads and I'm very happy with them, just curious about the dart's.

Jason,

Assume you meant "with our double spring good to .660" lift"

He did good to make it that clear. He's always in such a hurry that sometimes his typing is MUCH worse than that Yes, he meant "our".

Outa the box Darts cost around $1500, wouldn't that be just a few hundred in savings for the PRC's?

CNC'd (that's what the OP asked about) Pro1 heads are around $1000 each bare or $1400 each assembled. The as cast heads are a bit less expensive though.

Correct, the more I look at it it seems the only way Ill really get a sure improvement over the PRC heads is by going with a Trickflow 215. Hope to see some dyno/track tests of the PRC 215 casting soon.

My times with Dart 225's are in my signature. Mine are out of the box Dart's with only a slight mill to bump compression. For the money I like them.

The Dart's work better on a 4" bore than they do on the 3.89" bores. Not that you can't run them on the smaller bore. You would get more power going with a better 243 casting on your stock bore. I have dyno graphs of the Darts on some 4" bore blocks but that's not really what your wanting to see. And you don't need the CNC'ed Dart's the "as cast" 225's with a valve job will make really good power. Here's a dyno graph of a stock bottom end GTO with Dart 225's with a valve job and a 224 cam.
