Pat G from LS1tech has been helping me get a custom ground cam for my car and this is what I got back Very Happy
Cam recommendation: (2002 F-body with stock 346 LS1 engine, 67cc stock heads, .054” gasket, LS6 intake, 78mm TB, M6, 4.11 gear, 1 3/4” long tube headers with no cats, 6600 rpm shift points, 6800 redline)
231/231 .617”/.617” 111LSA +4 advance (with 1.7 ratio rockers)
Comp LSL/LSL lobes
13018R/13018R HR111LSA +4 advance (107 installed intake centerline)
Cam Valve Events 0.006 0.050 0.200
Intake Duration - ID 281 231 154 13018R LSL lobe .617"
Exhaust Duration - ED 281 231 154 13018R LSL lobe .617"
Lobe Center Angle - LSA 111 111 111
Intake Centerline - ICL 107 107 107
Intake Valve opens - IVO 33.5 8.5 -30 BTDC (- indicates ATDC)
Intake Valve closes - IVC 67.5 42.5 4 ABDC
Exhaust Valve Opens - EVO 75.5 50.5 12 BBDC
Exhaust Valve Closes - EVC 25.5 0.5 -38 ATDC (- indicates BTDC)
Exhaust Centerline - ECL 115 115 115
Overlap 59 9 -68 degrees
• Static/Dynamic Compression with new cam: 10.28:1, 8.02:1
• Recommended valve springs: Patriot Extreme duals with Ti retainers.
• Recommended pushrod length: 7.450”.
Now to know what size injector's I need(I was just thinking 42's...not to big and the duty cycle can be turned down), and to order my fuel pump, also find some pushrod's. I'm looking at the TR set, and also at the Comp Cam Chrome Moly's.
I'm super stoked Very Happy

That thing is going to run like a raped ape. I too am considering building a cam on the LSL lobes. I do know how hard they will be on springs so let me know what you think. You need to get an idle clip of that thing too, it's going to sound like a demon.

Nice looking cam, Pat specd me one just a little smaller 227/231 similar lift on LSL lobes 113+4. I believe TR is out of their pushrods, but they can get you the comp ones. TSP also has chromoly pushrods in that size. Good luck with it, post up some numbers and vids when its done.

so what clearance did he say you will have then...every engine is different...there is a reason why there is a save standard of 0.080 and .100...
if anything cams get made wrong more often than you think...so go through the time of either having the cam doctored or degreeing it yourself in the car...if you dont wanna check PTVC dont, peace of mind IMO though...

I've spec'd over 100 cams in the 230 at .050" range for cam-only applications and none have reported dangerous P to V clearance. Russell should be able to run this cam with confidence.

Read carefully what Patrick said. His first words are "There should be no issues if cam is installed at 107 ICL". Are you going to degree the cam?
dot to dot doesn't necessarily mean it is at that. the .050 specs are generic and the grind will not be exactly at those figures. So it is always wise to degree and check PTVC. Not only will you know what is happening but also you'll benefit from the true valve events that Patrick laid out for ya.
Paying attention to detail on install of cams ensures every ounce of power we so dearely seek is taken out of it.
