Default Where can you find a LS1 Rebuild Kit?

I am looking for a LS1 rebuild kit that comes with pistions, gaskets, and bearings. Has anyone came across a company that sells them. I have a spare LS1 in the garage and I wanted to rebuild it for another car I have and havent had any luck locating a rebuild kit. thanks

I run an O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Louisville, and I can tell you that none of the local aftermarket parts stores have one. The only things available to these stores are eutectic pistons by speed pro, and bearings that will have to be special ordered. I am in the middle of a rebuild myself, and the only thing I have gotten from my store is the 10296 melling oil pump and the fel-pro MLS stainless head gaskets. I have ordered several parts on e-bay for it, and have not been dis-satisfied yet. Engine Parts Warehouse does carry pistons and rings, but I hope you have deep pockets.

try getting your local machine shop to order it, or try sdpc2000.com

I called Texas Speed, they said they carry the gasket kit for 422 shipped but dont include pistons. That is one thing I miss about the older GM cars is that a rebuild kit is 500 bucks shipped with pistons.

Yeha? I can't even find that kit using summits navigation how did you find that? 97-98 would have the wrong valve cover gaskets for sure, but I'm sure the bulk of the kit would be fine for a 2000

I'd like to find one for a 6.0L

Damn dude thanks for that link. By far the best deal I've seen on a rebuild kit.

The stock rods can be reused. But if you're doing any sort of serious upgrading, I would get new rods or at the very least new ARP rod bolts.
Scat I-beams on WS6store are cheap and good to 600-700rwhp from what I've read.

The later LS1 engines use a teflon skirted piston thats why the kit doesn't cover the newer years. Would be ok to use anyway.

If you go to that product and click "Kit/Combo Contents" you can order the bearings, pistons, and gaskets separately. I didn't need the pistons or main and rod bearings so I just ordered the gasket kit. If you get their gasket kit, I believe the only item you won't be able to use are the head gaskets on 99+ ls1s.

I know this is an old *** thread, but has anyone used this kit from summit? Got a 98 Formula, 157k miles. havent torn the motor apart yet but theres is not currently any problems with it. Just want to rebuild it before i put heads/cam/intake. Any ideas on this summit rebuild kit? worth it? too good to be true?

Thanks guys.
