Default better choice

ok deciding on a daily driver cam for my '00 WS6 all stock 6m 40kmiles. Im putting ls6 springs, valves, rods. possibly milling the heads if price is right 62cc? im on a tight budget. would a LS6 cam or GM hot cam(ok with stock springs???) be the better choice for a daily driver. I don't want to sacrifice much low end grunt, idle quality and mpg. I have a car in the garage for that sort.

i guess if your not looking for a lot go with gm hot cam, it sounds good but isnt too much of a cam. be sure to change your springs on any cam you get!

lol then the ls6 is your friend, that is the perfect cam for you. you can keep your stock idle gain a little HP and still sound stock! i wouldnt really bothering doing a ls6 cam swap IMO. you can look in the dyno section to see gains from the cam though.

What about the tr224 cam on like a 114lsa? That wouldnt sound much dif then stock and youll prolly get quite a bit more out of it than with the hot cam. Just my .02 either way you go good luck!

yea, but still a 114 is still pretty noticable, and he couldnt keep stock idle with it, and if he tried to keep stock idle it would sound very damn aggresive.

I'd go with MTI's Stealth II cam. It's a perfectly stock idle. Only a trained ear could really tell if it had a cam. Specs are 224/220 .581/.581 on a 116LSA. I had in my car for a while until I built the 383 I currently have. It ran like stock until you hit 2500 rpm, then it came on HARD all the way to 6500.

While MTI is no longer in business, you can still order this cam from any Comp Cams dealer. It's XER lobed. Shouldn't be hard to order.

I'd say if you went with a single spring - yes. But, a double spring should last for quite a long time. I'd look at the Patriot Gold double springs.

I'd set-up to at least 243 castings, cut .020". If you can swing it, ported heads from Texas Speed, Patriot, or any of the other sponsors will get you more power. Heads are key to building horsepower.
