Default need some helping picking a cam

I'm thinking about getting a cam for my Z28 in the near future and to be honest I really don't know a whole lot about them other than some general stuff I've gathered from posts here. It is a daily driver and my only car so I want something that retains good driveability but still pulls hard. I go to the track maybe once a month, sometimes less. I've been doing a lot of reading and so far my top pick is the TSP 228R. As for the sound, I want something that doesn't idle too rough but enough so that you can definitely tell it's cammed (after a tune). I've heard some pretty smooth sounding 112 LSA's after a tune so I think that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm unsure about what heads I will be getting in the future but it's definitely on my wish list, along with an intake manifold, TB, fuel injectors, UD pulley, and if money permits a supercharger lol. What kind of power gains could I expect? Gas mileage? I'm currently making 360 rwhp and 375 ft lbs...mods are in the sig. Here's my dyno sheet just FYI

Nice numbers for your mods Ask Ryan since he tuned your car. A 228r is a nice cam.

I can tell you this though. A 228 on a 112 is lumpy but I like it cause the power comes in sooner and you won't have to spin as high to wring everything out of it as a with more LSA. If you want a little steathier go 224 on a 114.

Personally I like lump so I would go low low 230's 111/112 range

I like that lumpy sound but not to where it sounds like it's about to die haha. And actually RPM didn't tune my car...they just dynoed it. I used to work at a Cadillac/Hummer dealership and my manager happened to be smart as **** about doing that sort of stuff so I had it done for free. He just whipped out his laptop and started changing numbers and stuff, looked way too complicated for me haha.

With an M6 and LS6 intake, you'd be hard pressed to find a cam better than our 230/224 111. For overall area under the curve and driveability it will hold its own and frequently surpass much larger cams. With your mods and the power you are currently making, I would expect 410+RWHP from this cam. If you have any questions or would like a custom cam spec'd for you, PM me or give me a call here at the shop.

Thanks,
Shane

There's a thread in the stickies about reverse-split cams. You should read it and give it thought... alot of people seem to be overlooking the r/s cams and it looks like there is a lot of potential to be had there for a d/d....

Here's the link....

Dam you lucked out... $75 an hour dyno time vs. $500 tune haha

My car doesn't sound like it's going to die but anybody can tell it doesn't sound stock either

Put it this way.... I get lot's of looks when whenever I pull in somewhere to buy some fuel
