That's about right for a stock 243 or 799 casting head. Cam selection will dictate whether or not you should mill the heads, and if so how much to mill.

I'm planning on putting stock ls6 243 heads on my 04 ls1 gto
I have them down at the machine shop now and they are going to deck them for straightness anyway and i was planning on running cometic .051 gaskets, how much can i get them milled safely for a mild build (LPE gt2-3 cam) without getting into valve clearance issues, I don't want a crazy compression ratio, just a little bump in power since I'm using unported stock heads
would milling just .010 or .005 be worth it? will this effect my pushrod length?
