Default LQ4 and 4L80E swap into '98 T/A

I tried to search and didn't find any information on the swap. I would like to know everything that is needed to successfully swap an LQ4 with 4L80E into my '98 T/A LS1 with 4L60E. I currently have the stock 10 bolt but would like to upgrade after the swap. I'm swapping the LQ4 in regardless and I was thinking I may as well put the better 4L80E while I'm at it. I know I will need a drive shaft, but what else? Thanks

The engine is a pretty straight forward swap. You'll need to swap over the intake, oil pan, and the whole front accessory drive. The block will need to be drilled and tapped for one of the alternator bolts. I have no experience with the 4L80E, but if you look in the stickies at the top of Auto Trans section you'll find the info. There was a thred in here last week with a picture showing where the block needs to drilled, so a simple search should help to clear that up.

Just like posted above the LQ4 is a strait swap some people don't even bother with the alternator bolt hole. For the 4l80e you will need a Speartech wiring harnes for it to work in your fbody. The rest is pretty much a basic swap. Here is a good link to check out.

I simply pulled the .hpt or .bin file from my car, and also found a stock 4l80e truck .bin emailed it to Keith at HPtuners and he fixed it to reflect the new OS to control the 4l80e. You can have EFIlive do this also, but you, yourself can not make these changes.

Thanks guys, I read somewhere in those links that the '98 PCM will not work with the 4L80E, and that that solutions were either going with a stand alone or full manual valve body. Can anyone elaborate more on this for me? I don't want to run a stand alone if I don't have to.
